Dear MCASD Community,

All of us at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego would like to share the precautions that we are taking as a result of the outbreak of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

The health and safety of our community, visitors, and staff is of the utmost importance. We continue to be guided by the recommendations of our government agencies and public health officials, including the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), California Department of Public Health Info, and San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency (Public Health).

The situation is changing rapidly, and our cross-departmental team connects daily to keep apprised of and implement all updates from the CDC and the City of San Diego.

Currently, MCASD Downtown remains open to visitors with regular operating hours and we are continuing with most events, school tours, and public programs. However, we are curtailing programs that attract large audiences at a single time. As such, for March and April, we will not hold Downtown at Sundown, our extended-hours event on every third Thursday. Instead, we will offer free admission during regular hours on those Thursdays (March 19 and April 16). In addition, we are suspending the Family ArtLAB at Westfield UTC on Saturday, March 14. We will continue to assess the situation and provide updates for future programs. Any further changes to MCASD's schedule and programs, occurring as a result of public health recommendations, will be communicated via email, social media, and our website.

MCASD has increased the frequency of sanitizing surfaces, door handles, and elevator buttons. Sanitizers are available for use at all ticketing and information desks, as well as throughout the administrative offices.

To safeguard the health of our staff and other visitors, we ask that you postpone your visit if you are ill with flu-like symptoms, or if you have recently traveled to a region that is experiencing widespread transmission of COVID-19. Additionally, we encourage our visitors to follow CDC recommendations, including regular hand-washing.

We look forward to welcoming you to MCASD. If you feel you need to skip an event for which you have purchased a ticket, you can receive credit for a future event, receive a full refund of your purchase, or make it a 100% tax-deductible donation to our organization. We would be grateful for your support.

Sincerely,

Kathryn Kanjo
