Teen CreateLAB: Rita McBride: Public Tilt a Response to the Built Environment

Saturday, Oct 25, 2014 - 1:00 PM-4:00 PM

The objects featured in the exhibition Rita McBride Public Tilt force viewers to closely examine the built environment and the way we use space. MCASD will invite 40-50 high school students to explore architecture, engineering, and project proposal planning in a half-day workshop led by MCASD Gallery Educator and Designer, Josh Clavell. During the workshop, the teens will become artists, project managers, and architects – using mathematics, engineering, and project planning concepts to design their own installation artwork. They will work collaboratively to outline a budget and detailed plan for how they will construct and build a contemporary art object that they envision. Following the workshop, the participants will be able to stay and explore all the exhibitions on view at MCASD Downtown.

This event is free for current high school students and space will be limited to 50 participants.

To RSVP please email education@mcasd.org with subject line “Teen CreateLAB” The program will be designed for adolescents (Grades 8 to12).
