Teen Art Council Presents: A Night of Forks & Film

Saturday, May 12, 2012 - 6:00 PM-9:00 PM

MCASD’s Teen Art Council (TAC) invites you to consider issues of migration, globalization, and food justice during a screening of Ten Thousand Waves followed by a dinner and workshop hosted by San Diego/ Tijuana-based artist Elizabeth Chaney.

Elizabeth Chaney's artistic practice combines research, activism, and pedagogy towards facilitating moments where structural conditions behind contemporary patterns of "use" may be translated/ transgressed/ transcended. During dinner, participants will consider issues raised by the film Isaac Julien: Ten Thousand Waves, a nine-screen video installation that explores the movement of people across countries and continents and meditates on unfinished journeys, all issues prevalent along the U.S. Mexico Border.

This event is now full. To be put on the waitlist please send an e-mail with subject line “Forks & Film” to education@mcasd.org that includes your name, high school, and grade.  This event is free-of-cost to current high school students.
