Teen Art Council Presents: I Will Not Make Any More Boring Art! An Afternoon of Art Challenges from John Baldessari

Saturday, Mar 03, 2012 - 1:00 PM-4:00 PM

While teaching his famous Post Studio Art class at CalArts in the 1970s, conceptual artist John Baldessari created a list of 109 assignments that challenged his students’ ideas about how to create art. These whimsical exercises range from “Given: $1. What art can you do for that amount?” to “Disguise an object to look like another object.”

MCASD’s Teen Art Council (TAC) invites you to drop-in during a three-hour workshop of Baldessari-inspired artmaking assignments in conjunction with the exhibition John Baldessari: A Print Retrospective From the Collections of Jordan D. Schnitzer and His Family Foundation.

This event is free-of-cost to current high school students.  To register, send an email to education@mcasd.org with the subject line “No More Boring Art” that includes your name, high school, and grade.
