The Teen Advisory Group (TAG) engages a diverse group of teens from high schools from across San Diego County who utilize the Museum as a site of citizen participation, education, and exploration of social issues through the lens of contemporary art.
This year teens studied the topic of homelessness. Their culminating exhibition, A Place To Call Your Own, explores emotions, environments, and experiences surrounding the concept of homelessness. Focused on themes of stereotypes, invisibility, house vs home, food waste, LGBTQ populations, and other intersections, teens created work designed to question and produce dialogue. Over the course of this program, students thought about perceptions and preconceptions surrounding the homeless population, and how art can help highlight these issues and transform perspectives.
View their original works of art at a culminating Showcase on Saturday, June 15 from 12-2 PM. Their work will remain on view through Sunday, June 30, at MCASD's galleries at 1001 Kettner Blvd. Hours are 11 AM – 5 PM Thursday through Sunday. Closed Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday.
The Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego invites all audiences to experience our world, our region, and ourselves through the prism of contemporary art.
