Members Only Event

Learn directly from local contemporary artists at Made by X, a Members-only event featuring art-making and exploration of artistic materials and processes over conversation and cocktails.

This Made by X will be led by artist David Adey. Guests will be invited to create an improvisational and collaborative artwork with the artist and fellow attendees, utilizing materials ranging from spray paint to some of David’s unique studio materials. Join us in the Loading Dock at MCASD Downtown for a one-of-a-kind creative experience. Drinks will be provided via a pop-up sidewalk café.

David Adey's work addresses issues of identity and the fraught intersection between our physical bodies and the increasingly digitized world they inhabit. This interest is informed by a career which began in graphic design and branding for clients from small business to fortune 500 companies. His work was featured in Here Not There in 2010 at MCASD; The 2010 California Biennial at Orange County Museum of Art; Torrance Art Museum; Cranbrook Art Museum; Minneapolis Institute of Art; The La Jolla Athenaeum; and Oceanside Museum of Art. His recent Hide series was selected for the exhibition State of The Art, Discovering American Art Now, which began at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Arkansas and is currently touring nationally.

Made by X is $35 for Members; $50 for non-member guests. Non-member guests must be accompanied by an MCASD Member. Space is limited, early registration is suggested.
