Extended School Partnership (ESP) Showcase > May 2019

Thursday, May 16, 2019 - 5:30 PM-7:30 PM

MCASD’s Extended School Partnership (ESP) program facilitates arts-based learning experiences in the classroom and at the Museum. The program empowers 6-12th grade teachers to use the Museum as an extension of the classroom, enhancing their ability to incorporate original art objects into their curriculum, promoting students’ critical and creative thinking. The program consists of professional development for the classroom teacher, class visits to the Museum, in-classroom critique sessions, and a culminating showcase where students are able to showcase their accomplishments at the Museum. Each partnership is unique to the individual school and can be as short as a couple of weeks or as long as an academic year. Through multiple school and Museum visits led by our Gallery Educators, students and teachers embrace the Museum as a learning resource.

At this special Showcase event, celebrate the work of students from Charter School of San Diego, Westview High School, School of Creative and Performing Arts Otay Ranch, and Urban Discovery Academy Charter. This event is held during Downtown at Sundown and is free to attend.
