Extended School Partnership (ESP) Showcase > March 2019

Thursday, Mar 21, 2019 - 5:30 PM-7:30 PM

MCASD’s Extended School Partnership (ESP) program facilitates arts-based learning experiences in the classroom and at the Museum. The program empowers 6-12th grade teachers to use the Museum as an extension of the classroom, enhancing their ability to incorporate original art objects into their curriculum, promoting students’ critical and creative thinking. The program consists of professional development for the classroom teacher, class visits to the Museum, in-classroom critique sessions, and a culminating showcase where students are able to showcase their accomplishments at the Museum. Each partnership is unique to the individual school and can be as short as a couple of weeks or as long as an academic year. Through multiple school and Museum visits led by our Gallery Educators, students and teachers embrace the Museum as a learning resource.

This fall, students from Torrey Pines High School, High Tech High North County, and Mount Miguel High School were invited to explore the exhibition Being Here with You/ Estando aquí contigo and create original works of art in response to the processes, materials, and themes used by the artists in the exhibition. Join the students to celebrate their work at this special Showcase held during Downtown at Sundown. This program is free to attend.
