Downtown at Sundown

Thursday, Jun 16, 2016 - 5:00 PM-Friday, Jun 17, 2016 - 7:45 PM

Visual and performing arts converge at MCASD Downtown’s new after-hours offering: Downtown at Sundown. On the third Thursday of every month from 5 to 8 PM, enjoy free Museum admission, exhibition tours, music by The Roots Factory Art Collective, free entry at SDSU Downtown Gallery, drink specials at Stone Brewing Company and The Flight Path Wine Bar & Bistro, The Book Truck, Grater Grilled Cheese food truck, and more!

For this Downtown at Sundown, SDSU Downtown gallery will be hosting a pop-up event with Grrrl Independent Ladies and their founder Mónica Mendoza, featuring a one-night only program of art, video, and musical performances by Le Ra. Grrrl Independent Ladies was created by Mendoza as a hub for women to connect and express themselves creatively in support of our Frontera Grrrl scene connecting cities like Los Angeles, San Diego, and Tijuana.

San Diego International Film Festival will be screening a series of dynamic, off-beat animated film shorts as a preview for the Annual Film Festival held this fall from September 28 through October 2.

There will also be a performance by Intrepid Theatre Company. The award-winning Intrepid Theatre Company is producing the San Diego premiere of Woody Guthrie's AMERICAN SONG at the Horton Grand Theatre from May 13-June 19. The cast features five singers interpreting Guthrie's music in five-part harmony. Additional details can be found at
