Avant Garde Day Trip to Escondido

Saturday, Oct 19, 2019
Members Only Event

This day-long outing to Escondido features a trip to visit Niki de Saint Phalle’s Queen Califia’s Magical Circle. Inspired by California’s mythic, historic, and cultural roots, Queen Califia’s Magical Circle is situated within a 12-acre natural habitat in the Iris Sankey Arboretum in Kit Carson Park. The garden consists of nine large-scale sculptures, a circular “snake wall,” and maze entryway. Our group will tour the sculpture garden with Bloum Cardenas, Niki de Saint Phalle’s granddaughter and Trustee of the Niki Charitable Art Foundation. A picnic lunch will be provided, and the group will visit a local artist’s studio on the way home.

This trip is free for Avant Garde Members, and $50 for guests and Members at all levels who might be curious about the Avant Garde experience. Contact Senior Memberhsip and Annual Giving Manager April Farrell to sign up at aefarrell@mcasd.org or 858 454 3541 x162.
