MCASD waives admission for kids all year long, but during the month of October we're joined by many of San Diego's impressive museums and cultural organizations. Thanks to the San Diego Museum Council, kids are invited to explore San Diego’s diverse museums for free. From October 1 – 31, children ages 12 and under receive FREE admission with a paid adult (limit 2) at any of our nearly 40 participating museums and cultural organizations.
Art student and MCASD Communications Intern Andres Perez attended this year's Coachella Festival. Check out his insights into the festival, Coachella's art contest, and the two prevalant themes in his life: music and art.
Looking for a “shore thing” this summer? Thursday nights just got more interesting. We're offering extended summer hours at our La Jolla location, staying open late—until 8 PM—every Thursday evening from June 13 through August 29 (with the exception of July 4).
This year, MCASD’s Collectors groups celebrate their 28th anniversary. Thanks to the combined support of the International and Contemporary Collectors, MCASD has added 94 works to its collection—works that were collectively purchased for approximately $3.2 million and that today are valued at over $12.5 million. The support from our Collectors groups has allowed our curators to discover new artists, enrich the MCASD collection, and build an engaged and informed community of collectors in San Diego.
