Our Education Department is gearing up for a new academic year with YOU in mind. One Man’s Trash

James Drake’s exhibition, The Anatomy of Drawing and Space (Brain Trash), consists of 1,242 drawings that took the artist years to complete. Here he discusses the inspiration, the process, and the meaning of this large-scale installation currently on view at MCASD Downtown.

This event, called Collecting 101, was arranged in preparation for the Museum’s Biennial Art Auction on April 30; to help patrons, Members and friends on their art collecting journeys.

Inside Scoop: An Act of Devotion

Tim Youd has undertaken to retype one hundred classic novels over the course of five years. As part of his undertaking, Tim Youd will retype Raymond Chandler’s The Long Goodbye at MCASD, not far from the La Jolla residence where Chandler wrote the novel. Here Youd discusses the nuts and bolts of his painstaking process.
