Tricia Reina is owner of Tenfold Style and the queen of all the details at The Spring Thing: Modern Mutiny on Friday, March 4 at MCASD Downtown. From the types of flowers at the bar and the lanterns in the lounge, to the color of the napkins at the dinner to the dinner table itself—Tricia is on it.
Peter Gutkowski is the certified Cicerone that will be leading The Spring Thing: Modern Mutiny guests on a blind beer tasting adventure during Cocktail Hour. Wondering what a Cicerone is? So were we. MCASD met with Peter to get some details about his trade and what he's got planned for the big night on Friday, March 4 at MCASD Downtown.
Each year we share the important ways your donations go to work at the Museum and ask for your support as we embark on another year of exciting exhibitions and enriching public programs. This year we celebrate La Jolla's iconic sculpture, Hammering Man at 3,110,527 by artist Jonathan Borofsky.
We are proud to participate in Kids Free in October! Though all MCASD visitors under the age of 25 are always welcome to the Museum free of charge, we're excited to be part of this city-wide initiative where children ages 12 and under will be welcomed into dozens of San Diego cultural institutions for free during the month of October!
Madeline Dorvillier is an MCASD Curatorial Intern this summer. As an intern, Maddy works closely with the MCASD staff on projects that foster the development of relevant work experience as well as a deeper understanding of the art field. Maddy's time with MCASD inspired her to address some of the stigmas often assocaited with the studying of art and the art field to reflect on the role her internship has had in determining her career path.
This year MCASD worked in partnership with Combat Arts, a local nonprofit organization that provides art experiences for combat troops, to create San Diego ArtOASIS—a comprehensive art-based program to support the recovery of active military personnel overcoming Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Through the ArtOASIS program, the Museum offers a series of private gallery tours and weekly art-making workshops that will culminate in a publicly presented and celebrated showcase of the participants’ artworks on Thursday, May 14 at MCASD La Jolla at 10:30 AM.
