Artist Jonathan Borofsky uses a minimalist technique to convey a sense of unity in his Hammering Man series. Many sculptures identical to this one are instaleld all over the world including Korea, Germany, and the United States, each figure with their GPS coordinates imprinted on them (see the numbers on sculpture’s leg). As a part of Borofsky’s design, each Hammering Man hammers in unity, symbolizing a connection between all people. The Hammering Man is a commentary on the working man, as the figure mechanically moves its arm up and down all day every day throughout the year, only resting on Labor Day.
