Security Services Representative (Part-time)

Job Summary: 

The Security Services Representative (SSR) is designed to provide exceptional customer service to all members of the MCASD organization and enhance the museum visitor experience. The SSR is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of MCASD staff, visitors, the art collection, and the physical building.  

This position reports to the Security Manager. As needed, this position will also be given operational direction by the Sr. Supervisor or Supervisor on duty assigned to lead an event, the day’s activities, or other museum-related events when the manager is not scheduled, available, and/or present. 

Essential Functions: 

·         Perform interior patrols of museum galleries.

·         Ensure museum visitors adhere to company policy to preserve the collection and prevent theft or damage.

·         Ensure that daily security patrols are performed properly.

·         Impart knowledge of museum exhibits, events, and of the surrounding area to patrons.

·         Respond to any emergency events (e.g. medical emergencies, natural disasters, etc.).

·         Additional duties may include exterior facility patrols and after-hours vehicle escort.

·         Ensure safe work environment through knowledge of and adherence to safety policies and procedures. 

·         Flexibility to work alternate, part time, or special event shifts, including weekends and/or after hours. 

·         Other duties as assigned.  


Knowledge, Skills & Experience: 

• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to maintain a professional demeanor in a challenging, dynamic environment and work with all levels of patrons.
• Ability to perform crowd control by providing clear guidance and direction.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including alternate schedules, part time, or special event shifts, which will include weekends and/or after business hours.
• High school diploma or equivalent. Some post high school related course work preferred.
• Prior museum and/or art related experience preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year prior security-related work experience preferred.
• Must possess and maintain an active BSIS Security Guard Card.
• Ability to be trained and maintain an active CPR/First Aid/AED Certification.
• Bilingual a plus.  

Physical Requirements:
Ability to see, listen, and hear for extended periods. Ability to speak as needed. Ability to remain in a standing position or walk for extended periods. Ability to climb stairs, stoop, and kneel. Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull, exerting up to 10 pounds or a negligible amount occasionally or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

Special Licensing:
BSIS Security Guard Card required.

Background Checks and Training:
Criminal background check. CPR/First Aid/AED Certification or ability to obtain through MCASD-provided training.
