Summary: 

The Communications intern will gain experience in the Communications department of the Museum, which oversees all of the Museum’s public relations, marketing, communications, internal publications, website, and online presence to enhance MCASD’s image regionally, nationally, and internationally. 

Educational Experience:

  • Learn how a Drupal Content Management System works and update the Museum’s website with information about events and exhibitions.
  • Assist with adding MCASD events and exhibitions to numerous online media and tourism sites.
  • Help capture and craft content for the Museum’s social media accounts.
  • Write and design eblasts to be sent to MCASD audiences.
  • Help develop content for the Museum’s newsletter.
  • Help respond to press requests and prepare press materials. 
  • Attend strategy and planning meetings with multiple departments as well as outside vendors.
  • Distribute marketing materials to local businesses.
  • Follow safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience: 

Excellent writing skills.  Good organizational, multi-tasking, attention to detail, and follow-up skills.  Professional experience with social media preferred. Website experience a plus. Ability to learn independently or in a team environment.  Strong technical skills with a proficiency in MS Office.  Working toward a degree in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, or related field.  Interest in contemporary art. Spanish/English bilingual preferred.  Enrolled or ability to enroll in an approved academic credit program for this internship.  GPA of 2.5 or greater.
