VISITOR SERVICES REPRESENTATIVE

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Previous customer service experience is preferred; an interest in contemporary art and culture is desirable; the ability to use a second language is a plus. The position may require that the individual work at one of the two Museum locations. Multi-tasking and the ability to remain calm with various distractions is essential. Shifts may involve weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays. A friendly professional appearance and demeanor are essential. General computer experience as well as familiarity with MS Excel and MS Office.
POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Visitor Services Representative welcomes visitors to the Museum, sells admissions, provides programming and exhibition information, and directions to guests and patrons on the phone and in person.
* Maintains 8-line phone system and transfers calls to appropriate staff
* Maintains professional working relationships with all Museum staff, the Museum's Board of Trustees, the artistic community, the Museum's Membership and Membership volunteer organization
* Creates End-of-Month attendance report via Excel
* Receives visitors; directs vendors and appointments and notifies the correct personnel
* Maintains and stocks front desk with informational brochures
* Performs opening and closing procedures of front desk POS system
* Receives goods and mail upon delivery
* Performs all aspects of friendly customer service
* Communicates patron needs to Supervisors
* Observes Museum policies and procedures
* Monitors outside communication
* Other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Senior Museum officials

MEMBERSHIP MANAGER

JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Director of Development, the Membership Manager is responsible for significantly increasing Membership with a focus on acquisitions and retention. The Manager will plan, implement, and direct a broad-based Membership program that will increase individual and family support in Member and Contributor levels from $75 to $4,999.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record in broadening constituencies within a cultural environment and the ability to translate the strategic objectives into high-quality membership programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
* Plan, implement, and administrate Membership program to meet annual goals.
* Work with the Director of Development to develop new Membership categories and determine realistic yearly revenue goals.
* Develop and implement fundraising and sales strategies that target an appropriate audience and increase revenue and Membership base through mail, phone, onsite, and online sales.
* Direct the development, writing, and production of promotional and fundraising Membership brochures, letters, and other materials that effectively support the philosophy and mission of the Museum.
* Monitor Membership acquisition campaign progress to ensure that goals are met and that strategies are adjusted as needed.
* Initiate and maintain relationships with donors.
* Direct all operational activity of the Membership program in a manner that adheres to the annual expense budget.
* Develop and administer the annual expense budget.
* Ensure accurate and timely processing of new and renewed Membership tracking and campaign activity and reports.
* Develop office policies and procedures for the Membership program that result in an efficient and effective system.
* Determine ongoing staffing needs for the department.
* Respond to questions or concerns from Museum constituency and staff regarding Membership.
* Serve as Membership department representative on cross-functional Museum teams.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
* 4+ years experience in development, membership sales, or relationship marketing, including proven management experience in a multi-faceted program.
* Minimum B.S or B.A. degree and general knowledge of art history; interest in and knowledge of contemporary art is desirable.
* Demonstrated writing ability including excellent spelling, grammar, and editing skills; effective business and persuasive writing styles.
* Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to build effective professional relationships.
* Ability to interact with Board of Trustees, high-level Contributors, and Membership constituency.
* Ability to deliver with limited resources.
* Effective organizational skills and the capacity to simultaneously handle multiple activities with changing priorities.
* Must have ability to effectively work with people in a team environment.

SECURITY SERVICES REPRESENTATIVE

The Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego (MCASD) is currently seeking a qualified security professional to function as a Security Services Representative (SSR) assigned to the Downtown sites.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
* Responsible for performing interior patrols of Museum galleries.
* Ensure Museum visitors adhere to company policy to preserve the collection and prevent theft or damage.
* Ensure that daily security reports are preformed properly.
* Impart knowledge of Museum exhibits, events, and of the surrounding area to patrons.
* Respond to any emergency events (e.g. medical emergencies, natural disasters, etc.).
* Additional duties may include exterior facility patrols, vehicle escort after hours, and general Museum opening/closing procedures.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong organizational skills and planning ability.
* Excellent customer service skills; maintain professional demeanor in challenging, dynamic environment.
* Ability to perform crowd control by providing clear guidance and direction.
* Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to work with minimal supervision.
* MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point) preferred.
* CPR/FA/AED Certification is preferred, but training will be provided.
* Must have a flexible schedule.
* Ability to walk/stand for extended periods of time, climb stairs/stoop/kneel in order to perform security duties.
* High School Diploma (or Equivalent), some college course work preferred.
* Prior museum/art-related experience a plus, but not required.
* Minimum of 1 year prior security-related work experience preferred. Bilingual a plus.
