MORRIS LOUIS, NUMBER 99, 1959-1960, ACRYLIC RESIN (MAGNA) ON CANVAS, 99 X 142 IN., THE CLEVELAND MUSEUM OF ART, CONTEMPORARY COLLECTION OF THE CLEVELAND MUSEUM OF ART, © 1960 MORRIS LOUIS.

With a prodigious output of mature work that spanned a period of less than 10 years, Morris Louis (1912-62) indelibly altered the way painting looked. Morris Louis Now includes 27 canvases produced from 1951 to 1962, and offers a critical re-examination of the essential role Louis played in post-war American art. This concise survey is the first consideration of this influential painter's work in the United States since 1986. Morris Louis Now: An American Master Revisited is organized by the High Museum of Art, Atlanta, Georgia.

The MCASD presentation of Morris Louis Now: An American Master Revisited is made possible by the global financial services firm, UBS.
