Modern American Masters features major modernist works by Frank Stella, Andy Warhol, Barnett Newman, Clyfford Still, and Ellsworth Kelly. The exhibition — representing the pinnacle of American mid-century art-making practices, from Abstract Expressionism to Pop to early Minimalism — includes Barnett Newman’s seminal painting Tundra (1950), Andy Warhol’s Liz Taylor Diptych (1963), and Frank Stella's Concentric Squares (1966), prime examples of each artist’s work in pivotal moments in their careers. Modern American Masters is on view in the Melinda Farris Wortz Gallery in the new Jacobs Building at MCASD Downtown.
