San Diego artist Lisa Venditelli transformed MCASD’s cafe into an homage to Italian art, food, religion, and history. Referencing her own cultural background, Venditelli creates installations using imagery from Renaissance painting, Baroque architecture, and Catholic iconography, fabricating her pieces out of a collection of found objects and dried pasta. “Stained glass” windows evoking the masterpieces of Botticelli and woven pasta tapestries are among the works created for the space. Venditelli has exhibited her work throughout California, with her most recent installation at the San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art.

Venditelli’s installation is part of a series of temporary exhibitions in the Museum's cafe space, which include focused looks at single artists, works from MCASD's permanent collection, and commissioned installations.
