INDIVISIBLE: STORIES OF AMERICAN COMMUNITY

MCASD DOWNTOWN
February 3 - April 21, 2002

This exhibition offers a collective vision of local life and action in America through the experience of twelve diverse communities and their citizens. Featuring the new work of leading photographers and nationally recognized interviewers, the exhibition features nearly two hundred original photographs by twelve distinguished photographers. Often more evocative than illustrative, the powerful photographs include landscapes and triptychs, vibrant color interiors, photomontages, and portraits of people and the life of their community.

Indivisible is a project of the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University in partnership with the Center for Creative Photography, the University of Arizona. Indivisible is funded by The Pew Charitable Trusts. The exhibitions were organized and circulated by the Center for Creative Photography. The San Diego presentation is funded in part by The James Irvine Foundation, the City of San Diego Commission for Arts and Culture, and the California Arts Council.
