TARA DONOVAN: HAZE
MCASD LA JOLLA
SEPTEMBER 26, 2004 THROUGH MAY 15, 2005

TARA DONOVAN: HAZE, 2004, SITE SPECIFIC INSTALLATION, MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART SAN DIEGO.

In conjunction with Specific Objects: The Minimalist Influence and continuing MCASD's series of artists' projects, Tara Donovan created a new work in the La Jolla location's Meyer gallery. Donovan is known for transforming everyday materials such as Styrofoam cups, straight pins, and fishing line into fabulous organic landscapes. For her commission at the Museum, Donovan has transformed an entire gallery into a unique visual and physiological experience by gluing millions of clear drinking straws onto the gallery walls. Her work explores how massive accumulation of ordinary items can conjure associations of urban landscapes, atmospheric conditions, and geological formations.

Tara Donovan: Haze is made possible by a gift from Jan Tuttleman with additional support from the City of San Diego Commission for Arts and Culture.
