Teen Art Council Presents DocShop: Dogtown and Z-Boys

MCASD’s Teen Art Council (TAC) presents DocShop, a program that pairs a documentary film with a hands-on workshop for high school students.

Dogtown and Z-Boys explores the rebirth of skateboarding in Los Angeles during the 1970s.  Newly-developed industrial materials helped to create a better skateboard and also inspired the artists featured in the Museum’s current exhibition, Phenomenal: California Light, Space, Surface, to create works of art with these materials.

Following the 90-minute film, participants will explore selected works from Phenomenal with members of the Teen Art Council and then experiment with using industrial materials towards an artistic end in a TAC-led workshop.

To register, send an email to education@mcasd.org with the subject line “DocShop Registration” that includes your name, high school, and grade.
