Get Famous with the Greedy Organ
The human eye likes to selfishly devour contemporary art. Create original art inspired by the Greedy Organ eyeball and it could be your ticket to fame.
Today, MCASD announced the “Get Famous with the Greedy Organ” contest, inviting people ages 25 and under to submit their original art for the chance to have their work displayed at a showcase event and be featured in future advertising.
Young adults and children are invited to create original artwork inspired by the Greedy Organ eyeball and submit an image of their work by Sunday, June 10, 2012.
A panel of judges will select 25 finalists, whose work will be displayed in a showcase event at MCASD Downtown on Thursday, June 21 from 5-7 PM. The public will be invited to vote on their favorite artworks in person and on Facebook, and their vote will determine the top three finalists. MCASD will then choose the overall winner of the contest, who will be announced on or before June 28.
The winner of the “Get Famous with the Greedy Organ” contest will have their artwork featured in a future advertising campaign, and will receive a Dual/Family membership to MCASD as well as a gift bag stuffed with a $200 gift card and art supplies from Blick Art Materials.
The second place winner will receive a one year e-membership to MCASD as well a gift bag stuffed with art supplies and a $100 gift card from Blick Art Materials. The third place winner will receive a one year e-membership to MCASD as well a gift bag stuffed with art supplies and a $50 gift card from Blick Art Materials.
Enter online by June 10, 2012. Fame awaits.
The contest is part of the Museum’s “Feed Your Greedy Organ” initiative, designed to create awareness of its program that grants free admission to visitors 25 and under, thanks to the generous support from Qualcomm Foundation.
Media and community partners for this initiative include UT San Diego, San Diego Magazine, San Diego CityBeat, MTS, and i.d.e.a.
